Dog Off-Leash Areas
Dog owners interested in establishing an off-leash area (OLA) in a City-owned park, green space, waterfront area or alternative site can start the process by doing three things:
- Form a committee of 2 or more local residents interested in establishing a local dog OLA.
- Identify the exact area for the proposed OLA
- Send an email to the City’s Dog Off-Leash Area staff at dola@toronto.ca with your request. Include the names and email addresses of the 2 residents as well as at the recommended location. Feel free to copy my office too: councillor_minnan-wong@toronto.ca
Parks, Forestry and Recreation staff will guide you through the rest of the process after they receive your email request.
For more information about the policy criteria and the request process, please read the People, Dogs and Parks – Off-leash Policy.. Please note: the policy states that you must establish a local Dog Owners’ Association (DOA) to start the process. You do this by simply forming a committee of 2 local residents as stated above.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office by emailing councillor_minnan-wong@toronto.ca
If you’d like to take your dog out in the meantime, click here for a full list of dog off-leash areas in North York.
